The people won’t stand for golden circle culture – Cullinane
Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane has said that the people rejected the culture of the golden circle seven years ago and will do so again.
Teachta Cullinane was reacting to the announcement by Sean Gallagher that he intends to seek a nomination to run for the presidency.
The Waterford TD said:
“Mr Gallagher clearly has a lot of personal ambition, but if US President Donald Trump has taught us anything, it is that personal ambition and a business career don’t necessarily translate into a good president.
“It takes a lot of arrogance on Sean’s part to return for a second run after his campaign collapsed seven years ago.
“The people rejected the culture of the golden circle at that time and I believe they will do so again. It is that same culture that destroyed the economy and resulted in years of misery, emigration, and poverty for hundreds of thousands of Irish people.
“Anyone running for the presidency must lay out their vision for the future – the kind of Ireland we want to leave for our children and grandchildren, a new Ireland where no one is left behind. Let’s leave old Ireland and old boys’ club politics in the past where it belongs.”
