Dillon welcomes the release of journalists
Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has welcomed the release of two journalists who worked on the ‘No Stone Unturned’ documentary which exposed state collusion and cover up in the 1994 Loughinisland massacre.
The party’s Victims spokesperson said:
“I welcome the release of investigative journalists Barry McCaffrey and Trevor Birney.
“These journalists played a key role in the ‘No Stone Unturned’ documentary which helped expose the extent of state collusion between the state and loyalist paramilitaries.
“Today’s arrests by the PSNI are of grave concern and run contrary to freedom of the press which is a fundamental element of a democratic society.
“The relatives of the six men murdered at the Heights Bar were subject to 20 years of state cover-up on collusion into the murders carried out by loyalist paramilitaries.
“Sinn Féin will continue to support the Loughinisland families in their quest for truth and justice.”
