Disbelief at latest Omagh roads tragedy - Begley

5 September, 2018 - by Órfhlaith Begley

Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley said there is a sense of disbelief and profound sadness at the fourth road death to have occurred in the Omagh area over recent days.

The West Tyrone MP said:

“The community is in disbelief to hear of Sean Reid’s tragic death which occurred in the Great Northern Road in Omagh.

“This is the third road tragedy to affect the local area in just 36 hours with four people losing their lives, these multiple tragedies have cast a long shadow of profound sadness over the entire community.

“The fact that another life has been taken on our local roads in such tragic circumstances is a sombre reminder of the importance of road safety and in particular the urgent need for the A5 Dual Carriageway to go ahead.

“The emergency services must be commended for their efforts in the aftermath of these horrible tragedies.

“I want to extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Mr Reid and all those who have lost their lives on this road over recent days.”
