Sinn Féin committed to Casement Park project

Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has said the party remains committed to ensuring a successful resolution to the Casement Park project. The West Belfast MP was speaking after the Casement Park Project Board sent a letter to clubs and counties regarding the Casement Park project.Paul Maskey said: “I welcome the open letter released by Tom Daly, Chairperson of the Casement Park Project Board today. “The letter provides a comprehensive overview and update on the long journey travelled thus far by Gaels as they seek to develop a modern fitting home for the GAA in Belfast, Antrim and Ulster.  “I want to commend the resilience of the wider GAA community in remaining steadfast and true to the Casement Park project that will, despite the understandable frustration, be a fitting tribute to all that is great and good about the GAA. “As MP for West Belfast I have consistently engaged with all key stakeholders to ensure a successful resolution to the Casement Park project and will continue to do so. “The current scheme proposed will be a major game changing addition to West Belfast making a significant contribution to the sporting, cultural, economic and social regeneration of the entire community and city. “Sinn Féin ensured that Casement Park was a priority within previous Programme for Governments and now that we welcome Soccer and Rugby stadia flourishing we look forward to the final part of the stadium jigsaw being completed with the realisation of a new and modern fit for purpose Casement Park in the heart of West Belfast.”
