Unions must make their voice heard on Brexit assault on workers' rights - Anderson
Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said Brexit is an assault on workers' rights and called on trade unions in the north to make their voices heard.
Martina Anderson said:
"In recent days we have heard the larger trade unions in Britain raising serious concerns about Brexit and the impact it will have on their members.
"There is no doubt that Brexit represents one of the biggest assaults on the rights of workers from generations.
"The Tory Brexit agenda will strip away and undermine many of the rights workers struggled long and hard for.
"It will erode many of the basic rights and protections that workers today currently enjoy.
"More and more sections of society in the north are raising their voices about as its awful reality begins to dawn and we need to see the trade unions in the north doing the same.
"Everyone who is concerned about Breixt and the impact it will have should be making making their voice heard to both the British and Irish governments and the EU.
"We need to see a strong voice coming from the unions demanding the north remains in both the customs union and single market in order to protect jobs and workers' rights."
