Sheehan raises flu jab concerns
Sinn Féin spokesperson for Health Pat Sheehan has raised concerns about the delay in flu vaccinations for over 65s.
Reports say the delay is due to a shortage in supply and that the vaccine for pensioners will be staggered over September, October and November.
Pat Sheehan commented: "Flu vaccination is an important and effective measure in preventing those most vulnerable getting the flu, and news on a shortage of flu vaccines is very concerning heading into the winter season.
"It is particularly concerning given that it is affecting older people over 65 who may be more susceptible to flu."I am sure this will cause distress to those older people who were expecting to get their vaccine but who will now have to wait.
"I will be requesting a meeting with the Public Health Authority to clarify why this shortage has occurred and how they will ensure all those who need, and those who are eligible for, the flu vaccine can access it in a timely way."
