Sheehan disappointed at ruling on Pearse Jordan case
Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has said he is disappointed the Court of Appeal judges have rejected the legal bid by the family of Pearse Jordan to have an inquest verdict quashed.
Speaking after attending the court alongside the Jordan family, the West Belfast MLA said:
"It is disappointing that the Court of Appeal have rejected the Jordan family's legal bid to have an inquest verdict quashed.
"The Jordan family has been engaged in a long struggle for truth and justice and have been frustrated by continuous obstacles put in place by the RUC and PSNI as police officers lied, key evidence was tampered with and they failed to provide a convincing explanation for the shooting.
"It is clear that the RUC were in breach of Article 2 insofar as they were unable to justify the use of lethal force.
"Sinn Féin will continue to support the Jordan family in their quest for truth and justice."
