Sinn Féin member of the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee David Cullinane TD will tomorrow move legislation in the Dáil to amend the Freedom of Information Act to allow for the Office of President to be subject to freedom of information requests.

Speaking today Teachta Cullinane said;

“Sinn Féin believes that accountability, particularly when it comes to the use of public monies is of the utmost importance.  No use of public funds should be above scrutiny.

“I will move a piece of legislation in the Dáil tomorrow to ensure that the Office of the President is subject to Freedom of Information requests.

“I hope to see its speedy passage through the Oireachtas.”
