‘Positive talks with Taoiseach over Growth Deal support’ - McCallion
Foyle Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has welcomed the latest positive engagement with the Irish Government over financial support for Derry’s Inclusive Growth Deal.
Speaking following a discussion with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Derry today, Elisha McCallion commented:
“On Monday the British Government will announce the latest position with regard City Deals for the North West and Belfast.
“It has always been our belief that a City Deal in isolation will not deliver on the economic potential of the North West region.
“To do that we have a comprehensive plan in place and that must incorporate a City Deal as well as financial support and Interventions from the Dublin Government, local authorities, private enterprise and potentially the EU.
“I had a very positive discussion with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today about the potential input from the Dublin Government and further discussions will take place over the coming weeks as we move towards the next stage of the North West’s economic regeneration.”
