Mary Lou McDonald commends bravery of Maurice McCabe
Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald has wished Sergeant Maurice McCabe well in his retirement after serving 30 years in An Garda Síochána.
Teachta McDonald said:
“I would like to commend bravery shown by Sergeant McCabe. His appearance at the PAC reflected his determination to protect his good name, and that of An Garda Síochána.
“He faced down a concerted, orchestrated effort to rob him of this good name.
“His wife Lorraine and his family showed incredible strength in withstanding the nightmare in which they were caught.
“Maurice retires vindicated and held in the highest esteem by the people of Ireland. He also leaves an important legacy that must ensure the reformation of An Garda Síochána.
“I would like to extend every best wish and happiness to Maurice as the next chapter of his life is written – he is a good man.”
