'New Belfast is a place of diversity' - O’Neill
Sinn Féin Vice-President Michelle O’Neill MLA has said that the new Belfast has transformed into a place of diversity and culture.
The party’s deputy leader was speaking after visiting Belfast Islamic Centre with Party President Mary Lou McDonald and Máirtín Ó Muilleoir MLA.
Michelle O’Neill said:
“We received a warm welcome from our friends from the Islamic community in South Belfast.
“Mary Lou and I were delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the city’s Mosque and to show our solidarity and support for the Muslim community who have been a long established part of our inter-faith and wider society for over 40 years.
“Belfast’s Islamic community make a valued contribution to the cultural life of our city and we are very proud to support that.
“Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine. We all live in each other’s shelter.”
