Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael sham fight “dishonest” – Mary Lou McDonald TD

19 November, 2018 - by Mary Lou McDonald TD

The Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald has described the ongoing confidence and supply debacle as a “sham fight” between Mícheál Martin and Leo Varadkar which is “utterly dishonest”.

The Dublin Central TD said that the coalition partners are indifferent to the struggles of ordinary people.

McDonald said that the confidence and supply arrangement between the two parties has resulted in chaos and untold suffering.

Teachta McDonald said:

“Ordinary families are sick to the back teeth of the dishonest politics portrayed by both Mícheál Martin and the Taoiseach. They are both indifferent as to the impact of their policies.

“This sham fight is utterly dishonest and is more about pre-election chest-beating than dealing with the issues.

“While these parties play to their respective galleries, hundreds of thousands of people are on hospital waiting lists, children go to school hungry or walk the streets without knowing where they will sleep tonight.

"Families sit with their heads in their hands wondering how they are going to pay the bills as the cost of living soars higher and higher.

“Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael’s confidence and supply arrangement has achieved nothing only chaos and untold suffering. It is well past time that Mícheál Martin and Leo Varadkar recognised that and started addressing the issues rather than engaging in sham fights in the media.”
