Ó Donnghaile welcomes Airbnb decision to leave illegal settlements

19 November, 2018 - by Niall Ó Donnghaile

Sinn Féin Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed confirmation that Airbnb is set to remove its listings in illegal Israeli settlements located on the occupied West Bank of Palestine.

Niall Ó Donnghaile said:

“I welcome that Airbnb will remove listings for properties located in the illegal settlements in the Israeli occupied West Bank.

“It’s also significant in recognition that trading on land stolen from the Palestinians, is wrong.

“On a daily basis Palestinian villages are demolished and residents displaced to make way for the construction of more settlements on top of the existing 200.

“Not only are the settlements illegal under international law, their existence is a war crime and in complete violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

“The Occupied Territories Bill which has passed second stage in the Seanad will put Ireland on the map as leading the way against the oppression, human rights abuse and land grabbing which the Israel inflicts on the Palestinian people daily.

“Sinn Féin will continue to stand against apartheid and in support of justice, rights and peace for the Palestinian people.”
