Health crisis continues to escalate under Fine Gael - Louise O’Reilly TD
Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Louise O’Reilly TD has said the health crisis is escalating under Fine Gael.
Responding to figures that show November was the worst month on record for the trolley crisis Teachta O’Reilly said;
“In the 2016 general election Sinn Féin stood on a platform that promised to invest in our public services and to prioritise tackling the health and housing crisis.
“Fine Gael stood on a platform of cutting taxes and are continuing to make such promises.
“Meanwhile our health services are crumbling. The November trolley figures are a disgrace and show that things are actually getting worse under Fine Gael.
“Fine Gael is about to enter its ninth year in government and year on year the trolley and hospital overcrowding crisis has got worse. That is completely unacceptable.
“Added to this nurses are currently balloting for industrial action and other health workers are considering doing the same.
“Sinn Féin has brought forward proposals to deal with the problems of recruiting and retaining nurses but the government doesn’t seem interested.
“What is clear to me is that public services are not a priority for Fine Gael and that only a change of government can provide some hope for our health services and those who work in them.”
