Out of control spending on capital projects must be brought to a halt - Louise O'Reilly TD
Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Louise O'Reilly TD has said it is unacceptable that spiralling costs of the new National Children’s Hospital could result in key health service investments, including additional hospital beds, new emergency, cancer and cardiac facilities, primary care centres and long-term residential units, being shelved for up to five years.
Teachta O'Reilly said:
"Sláintecare requires investment in primary care infrastructure and this cannot be put in jeopardy.
"Likewise the Health Service requires capacity urgently to deal with the overcrowding.
"There is a stark contrast in the Minister saying that there is no money to address the recruitment and retention crisis, but there is money for out of control spending on capital projects.
"Minister Harris is great at turning up for photo opportunities - he needs to start showing up & taking control of this crisis."
