Varadkar's Thatcherite attitude will not resolve nurses and midwives crisis - Louise O'Reilly TD
Sinn Féin's spokesperson for Health Louise O'Reilly TD has responded to the Taoiseach's criticism of nurses and midwives for going on strike on a week day.
Teachta O'Reilly said:
"It's is an absolute disgrace that three weeks before nurses and midwives go on strike, Leo Varadkar still hasn't said anything meaningful to address their concerns.
"The fact that the Taoiseach has chosen to criticise the union and the healthcare professionals for striking midweek is not going to resolve the crisis, nor is his Thactherite attitude and anti-union rhetoric.
"The timing of the dispute is a matter for the union membership and the resolution to the crisis is a matter for the government."
