Ó Donnghaile calls for better links between Belfast and Dublin
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile has called for improved rail and road links between Belfast and Dublin.
Seanadóir Ó Donnghaile was commenting after reports that Enterprise passengers suffered 4,000 delays in three years.
Niall Ó Donnghaile said:
“These delays are unacceptable. Approximately one million passengers use the Enterprise annually and they deserve a quality service.
“The upgrade of this link makes economic, social and practical sense and would provide a major boost to the economy through better connectivity and job creation.
"l welcome the adoption of Sinn Féin’s proposal to carry out a feasibility study into a high-speed rail link between Belfast and Dublin by Belfast City Council.
“Brexit is threatening Ireland's economy north and south. Business, retail and tourism sectors are also demanding investment in this much-needed service to combat the potentially disastrous fall out of Brexit.
“Sinn Féin has for a long time been championing the need for improved rail and other infrastructural connections between Ireland's two main cities and we are committed to its delivery.”
