Sinn Féin leaders meet Jeremy Corbyn
Today Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD and deputy President Michelle O’Neill MLA met with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Speaking after the meeting Mary Lou McDonald said:
“We had a productive and useful discussion with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
"At the meeting we raised a number of issues including Brexit, the refusal by the British government to honour their agreements and their continued denial of rights to citizens in the North of Ireland.
"We stressed the need to protect Irish interests from Brexit and have the power sharing institutions of the North re-established on the basis of the agreements, rights and respect.
"The Labour leader agreed that in the Brexit process the Good Friday Agreement must be protected and there could be no return to the borders of the past.
"We agreed that the threat of a No-Deal outcome must taken off the table."
