British Prime Minister's stalling tactics creating greater uncertainty and instability- Mary Lou McDonald TD
Speaking today, Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD said:
“With the Brexit deadline only a month away, today's stalling tactics from the British Prime Minister in relation to the withdrawal agreement bring nothing only greater uncertainty and instability.
"Over the next two weeks the Oireachtas will debate emergency legislation to ensure that cancer patients in Donegal can continue to receive treatment in Derry and that sick children in Belfast can receive their treatment in Dublin. That is the reality of Brexit.
"Theresa May knows the necessity of the backstop for our citizens, our agreements and our economy. It is past time for the British government to honour the Withdrawal Agreement including the backstop.
"They need to stop the delay tactics and get on with looking at future relations.
"We will not allow our people and our economy to become collateral damage or negotiating leverage for a Tory Brexit agenda."
