Sinn Féin host roundtable meeting on Muckamore Abbey
Commenting after hosting a roundtable meeting with service providers on the challenges facing the discharge of patients from Muckamore Abbey Hospital, Sinn Féin spokesperson for Carers Colm Gildernew MLA said:
“Sinn Féin arranged today’s roundtable to discuss the challenges facing the discharge of patients from Muckamore Abbey Hospital.
“It was clear from today’s discussions that there hasn’t been enough meaningful and co-ordinated engagement from either the Belfast Trust or the Department of Health.
“We need action to the individual timeline planning for each of those awaiting discharge - this must be done in partnership with residents and families, the service providers and relevant authorities.
“It is important that the service providers, families and carers of patients in Muckamore Abbey are at the centre of any future plans.
Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Pat Sheehan added:
“We will continue to hold the Trusts and Department to account on the issues at Muckamore Abbey Hospital.
“It is important that as well as with the Service providers as involved that the families and carers of patients in Muckamore Abbey are at the centre of any future plans.”
