28 February, 2019 - by Mickey Brady

Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has said that there must be zero tolerance of racism and any manifestation of prejudice should face the full weight of the law.

The Newry and Armagh MP was speaking after it was revealed a 13-year-old received a £3,000 payment in settlement of a racial discrimination case after asked to leave a Currys PC World Store in Newry.Mickey Brady said:“There is no place for racism or any other form of discrimination in our society."There is a duty on us all to tackle racism and discrimination in our communities and workplaces by challenging negative comments and behaviour.“No one should face discrimination regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation or age should be afforded the same opportunities.“Employers must make sure, that their policies, practices and procedures meet with equality obligations.

“Sinn Féin is committed to reducing discrimination and supports equality legislation to combat racism.”
