Sinn Féin to support launch of Brexit billboard at Stormont – Fearon
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has said Sinn Féin will join with Border Communities Against Brexit, campaign groups and political parties at Stormont to support the launch of a new billboard.
The Newry/Armagh said:
“As we approach 29 March, the Brexit crisis is deepening and the countdown to a no-deal crash-out is fast approaching.
“Many people are rightly concerned at the prospect of a hard border on the island as a result of the reckless agenda being pursed by the hardline Brexiteers and the DUP.
“This reckless position seeks to push our economy over a cliff edge, threatens our peace agreements and is against the wishes of citizens north and south.
“Sinn Féin along with the SDLP, Alliance and Green Party want the north to remain within the customs union and single market.
“It’s important that we send Theresa May, the EU27 and the Irish government a very clear message; the Good Friday Agreement must be protected in all its parts, and the backstop remains the bottom line to protect our economy and avoid a hard border on this island.
“Sinn Féin will join with Border Communities Against Brexit and other pro-Remain groups on Monday as they launch a new billboard, an anti-Brexit declaration and a series of further demonstrations taking place on 30 March.”
