Shock at cost of Verdemont fire safety issues – Donnelly

1 April, 2019 - by Paul Donnelly

Sinn Féin Dublin City Cllr Paul Donnelly has expressed his shock at the estimated cost of €50,000 per home to solve fire deficiency problems in the Verdemont Complex in Blanchardstown, adding that the residents must be supported by government.

Cllr Donnelly said:

“I am absolutely shocked at the massive cost of the remedial works in the entire apartment complex.

“I visited the apartments with campaigner Tony Rochford after he discovered many problems with the apartments several years ago.

“Tony has now been completely vindicated.

“The residents of Priory Hall were supported and the Verdemont residents should also be supported by the government.

“I am also calling for a review of the fire deaths of a young couple, Louise Wall and Mick Farrell, in 2002. The family have consistently campaigned for such a review following concerns that the fire spread so rapidly.”
