‘No place for politics of hate’ – Beattie
Sinn Féin Councillor Ciaran Beattie has hit out at independent unionist candidate Jolene Bunting for attempting to introduce the ‘politics of hate’ into the May 2nd local election campaign.
Cllr. Beattie said: “It is disappointing but not surprising to see Jolene Bunting again plumbing the depths in her campaign to get elected.
“Her posters have been erected throughout the Court Ward in West Belfast urging voters to put ‘veterans before immigrants’ and ‘local homes for local people’.
“This is a blatant and disgraceful attempt to inject the politics of hate into this election – something which has been typical of Jolene Bunting’s time on Belfast City Council.
“This must be opposed by all right-minded citizens. There can be no place for discrimination and intolerance of any kind within our political system.”
