"Domestic violence app will help victims find a voice" - Boyle
Sinn Féin MLA Michaela Boyle has said a new app that will allow those in abusive relationships to track and record incidents in a private and secure environment will help victims find a voice.
Michaela Boyle said:
“It is not easy for victims of domestic violence and abuse to speak out as many live in fear every single day and this app developed by the Cithrah Foundation will help them.
“The App which can be downloaded on any phone will allow users to record the date and time incident occurred, who was present and what damage was done. Photos, text messages and videos can also be stored.
“In order to protect users any information inputted will disappear from the phone and be stored remotely online.
“I would encourage anyone in an abusive relationship to contact the Cithrah Foundation about downloading the app.
“No-one should suffer in silence. Whether the abuse is physical or emotional, there are organisations, who are just a phone call away and ready to help.”
