Disappointment as local tech company withdraws from Corduff community event over shootings
Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Donnelly has expressed his deep concern and disappointment at the decision of local tech company Symantec to pull out of a planting event in Corduff on April 17th.
Commenting on the decision, Councillor Donnelly said;
“I am deeply concerned and disappointed at the decision of Symantec to pull out of their annual planting event as part of World Planting Day in nearby Corduff.
“I do however understand the decision from their perspective and how they would be concerned about the health and safety of their employees in light of a spate of recent shootings in the area.
“Corduff is a wonderful and vibrant community which recently won the Pride of Place national community award. The people of Corduff are the salt of the earth. They have been through tough times before and they will once again face down these criminal elements who are terrorising their neighbourhood.
“Despite Symantec's disappointing decision, I'm calling on the Corduff community to stand strong. I want to appeal to locals and to the wider Dublin 15 community to show solidarity with the people of Corduff and the Clean-up-Corduff Group by joining with them on April 17th and participating in their planting event. Let people power prevail.".
