ARC21 revised planning application will be strenuously opposed – Kearney
Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has pledged continued opposition to the Hightown Incinerator following news that ARC21 and the Becon consortium have submitted revised documentation in support of their planning application.
The South Antrim MLA said:
“The news that ARC21 is revisiting its failed planning application for an incinerator will come as a huge disappointment to the Hightown and Glengormley communities. Residents will be rightly outraged that these developers are once again attempting to resurrect this unwanted, and completely unnecessary installation which has already generated widespread community and political opposition.
“The proposed project remains a serious risk to local community health and safety, and will have clear repercussions for the environment and surrounding habitat. Years of evidence gathering, along with extensive scientific research, shows that the risk to public health and well-being far outweighs any possible economic benefit.
“Local residents can be reassured that I, along with our Sinn Féin representatives for the Hightown and Glengormley areas, will continue to stand fully in support of the community and the NoArc21 group in opposing this latest incinerator application at every stage."
