McGuigan calls for removal of parachute flag
Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has called for the controversial British army parachute regiment flag erected on the Benvardin Road near the polling station in Ballybogey to be taken down.
The North Antrim MLA said:
"It has been brought to my attention by a voter that there is a controversial parachute regiment flag near the polling station in Ballybogey, it is of considerable concern and could be intimidatory to potential voters.
"The erection of these flags is solely to cause offence particularly to the families of those killed on Bloody Sunday.
"I have reported this flag to the Police and Electoral Office and would call on those responsible for putting up this flag to take them down as a matter of urgency."
