McAleer praises new rural advocacy group
Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has welcomed the development of the newly formed support organisation Rural Action, to advocate on behalf of rural communities.
Speaking following a meeting with the new group at their base in Loughrey College, Cookstown, the West Tyrone MLA commented: “From our engagement, it was clear to me that Rural Action has a coherent vision of vibrant, sustainable and shared communities and are very much action oriented with a focus on regeneration and rural development.
“The personnel involved in Rural Action have decades of experience in the design and delivery of programmes and projects to support rural communities and at a time of huge uncertainty for rural communities due to Brexit, it is very welcome that an organisation with such experienced personnel is there to support rural organisations.
“I believe that Rural Action has the potential to make a positive contribution to people’s lives and as political representatives we will play our part with Rural Action and all of the community support and stakeholder organisations to make sure that the rural voice is heard loud and clear at every level of government.”
