Minister must give Councils more staff to enforce short term letting rules – Ó Broin
Sinn Féin Housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin TD has called on Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy to provide additional planning and enforcement staff to councils to implement the new short-term letting regulations that will come into force on the 1st of July.
Deputy Ó Broin said:
“The new short-term letting regulations will come into force on the 1st of July.
“These new regulations will have little impact unless there is an adequate team of planning and enforcement staff to ensure the new rules are implemented.
“Councils were short term lets are more prevalent, such as Dublin City, Galway, and Cork, must have sufficient staff to deal with the new rules from July 1st.
“I have written to Minister Murphy today asking him to outline what additional staff he has provided to councils in order to enforce the new laws.”
