British government must end its stalling on redress - Dillon
Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon said today that the British government must end its stalling on redress for victims of historical institutional abuse.
Linda Dillon was speaking after a meeting between the six main local parties and the Executive Office in which the parties agreed to a joint approach so victims can get the redress they are long entitled to.
Linda Dillon said.
“Today’s meeting between the six local parties and the Executive Office was about dealing with the questions from the NIO which were about further stalling the process of redress for victims of historical institutional abuse.
“All the parties are on the same page.
“A letter will be sent to the NIO setting out the agreed positions of the parties.
“Victims have waited too long.
“Many have died without justice or redress.
“The scandalous stalling and prevarication by the British Secretary of State Karen Bradley and the NIO must end now.
“The British government needs to move expeditiously to bring forward legislation and ensure that victims receive the redress they are long entitled to."
