Begley calls for funding for Omagh Enterprise and Innovation Hub
Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley has called for public funding for an Enterprise and Innovation Hub in Omagh.
Speaking following a site visit with the Department for Economy Permanent Secretary, Noel Lavery and the Chief Executive of Omagh Enterprise Company, Nick O’Shiel, the West Tyrone MP said:
“I have been working closely with Omagh Enterprise in recent months to transform the site of the former Omagh Health Centre into an Enterprise and Innovation Hub and have met a number of government departments to lobby for funding for this project.
“The site visit from Noel Lavery, the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Economy, provided the opportunity to discuss the economic value of the Hub which provides workspace for 200 employees and 40 businesses.
“The visit enabled us to showcase the site which is strategically situated in a neighbourhood renewal area in the heart of Omagh town and close to the Strule Education Campus and the South West College.
“Omagh Enterprise have invested their own capital to develop this project and now require additional funding to bring it to fruition.
"I will continue to directly engage with the various departments to seek funding for this innovative project in the time ahead."
