John Brady TD calls for all party support for Tips Bill in the Dáil this evening
Sinn Féin Social Protection and Employment Affairs spokesperson John Brady TD has encouraged all party support for the Protection of Employee Tips Bill which he will move in the Dáil at second stage this evening.
Speaking today Teachta Brady said;
“This is a simple bill which aims to do two important things. Firstly, it gives employees a legal right to their tips and, secondly, it ensures that restaurants, bars and hotels are obliged to display their tipping policy for customers to see.
“It received unanimous support in the Seanad at second and committee stages but unfortunately, at the eleventh hour, Fine Gael decided to oppose it at final stage.
“It did pass however and I am happy to say that I will move it at second stage in the Dáil this evening during Sinn Féin’s Private Members’ Time.
“I would urge all parties and none to support this legislation and would appeal to Minister Regina Doherty work with the rest of us to ensure that employees are entitled to their tips.”
