Gildernew meets BT to discuss concerns over Enniskillen jobs
Sinn Féin MP Michelle Gildernew met today with senior management from BT in London today to discuss concerns over the future of jobs in Enniskillen.
The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP said:
"I met today with senior management from BT to discuss concerns about the future of BT's operation in Enniskillen after the recent announcement from the company it intends to close up to 90 per cent of its offices.
"BT is a major employer in the area and the loss of these jobs would be a major blow firstly to the workers involved and their families but also to the local economy.
"These jobs have been at risk before on several occasions and I had previously travelled to London to meet the company to impress on them the importance of these jobs to the Enniskillen area.
"At today's meeting I made it clear that BT must keep workers informed of any developments and engage with trade unions to make every effort to ensure these jobs remain in Enniskillen."
