Haughey welcomes council decision on offensive town centre banners
Sinn Féin Councillor Bróna Haughey has welcomed the passing of a motion before Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council calling for the removal of offensive banners in town centres, including displays in support of ‘Soldier F’.
Cllr Haughey said:
“Controversial banners supporting ‘Soldier F’, the former British soldier facing murder charges in connection with Bloody Sunday have been erected in this Council area and across the north.
“These banners are divisive and cause community division.
“I call on those who erected them to remove them immediately.
“Should they fail to do so, statutory agencies must act on the mandate given to them by the democratic decision of this Council.”
