Tories need to recognise people of the North rejected Brexit - Hazzard
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has said if the British government want to get the views of people in the north on Brexit then they should look at the results of the 2016 referendum.
Speaking as the British government convened yet another panel to come up with alternative arrangements to the Irish backstop, the South Down MP said:
The British government has established yet another panel to consider Brexit alternatives to the Withdrawal Agreement despite the fact that the EU have made it clear the negotiations have ended.
“If the Tories want to take the views of people in the north on Brexit then they need look no further than the result of the referendum when the majority of people in the north rejected this foolish and reckless strategy.
“The Withdrawal Agreement and the backstop it contains is the only deal on the table and cannot be talked away by the British government or parliament.”
