McMullan to meet PSNI over pipe bomb attack

5 July, 2019 - by Oliver McMullan

Sinn Féin Councillor Oliver McMullan has called on the PSNI to do more to tackle crime in the Glens of Antrim following a pipe bomb attack in Cushendall on Wednesday night.

Councillor McMullan said: "The pipe bomb attack in Cushendall village on Wednesday night was disgraceful and unacceptable.

"People could have been seriously injured or killed.

"Local people are dumbfounded by the attack in what is a largely quiet rural village.”

"But Wednesday's attack symptomatic of a growing problem throughout the Glens with regards to criminal activity.

"Residents have raised concerns with me before and I have called on the PSNI consistently to take these concerns seriously and address crime in the locality.

"Unfortunately to date the police have not done so sufficiently.

"I will be meeting with the District Inspector next week to emphasise the problems this community is facing and to seek a commitment from them that a plan will be put in place to address it."
