Sinn Féin meet PHA on procurement policies
The Public Health Agency should carry out more pre procurement engagement before any contract is awarded for the Protect Life 2 strategy, Sinn Féin MLA Órlaithí Flynn has said.
Commenting after a party delegation, including Órlaithi Flynn MLA, Carál Ní Chuilín MLA and Pat Sheehan MLA met with officials from the Public Health Agency (PHA) today, the West Belfast MLA said:
“It’s almost three years since the consultation was carried out on the Protect Life 2 strategy.
“To release outdated information and use it for any procurement process could have a serious detrimental impact on the work currently being done for those most in need in communities.
“We pressed the Public Health Agency to recognise the importance of pre-procurement engagement before any contracts are awarded.
“The Protect Life 2 Suicide Prevention Strategy is vital to tackling poor mental health and should be implemented and properly funded to help deliver for those individuals and communities in crisis.
“We would recommend that before any tendering is awarded, a new consultation takes place to ensure the recommendations are still relevant.”
