Maskey backs Springhill families – 'British government must honour commitments to victims'
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has said the relatives of those killed in the Springhill massacre are entitled to access to the truth about the deaths of their loved ones.
The West Belfast MP said:
“Today, a large crowd of people took to the streets in support of the campaign by the families of the five people killed by the British army in the Springhill massacre in 1972.
“Those families and their supporters have campaigned for almost five decades for the truth of what happened to their loved ones.
“They are entitled to access to the truth about how their loved ones died.
"The British government must act to end their stalling on implementing the Stormont House Agreement on legacy mechanisms and bring forward legislation which honors the commitments to victims and their families.
“Sinn Féin will continue to support the Springhill families in their campaign for truth and justice.”
