ABC Council has a duty to protect Corcrain residents

7 July, 2019 - by Paul Duffy

Sinn Fèin Cllr Paul Duffy has said ABC council must immediately move to deal with a bonfire in the Corcrain area which presents a serious health and safety risk to residents.

Paul Duffy said:

“It beggars belief in this day and age that residents are being urged to evacuate their homes as result of a bonfire which presents a threat to their lives, their homes and the environment.

“Residents should not be rendered homeless to facilitate a bonfire which presents a risk to life and property.

“Council and other statutory agencies have a responsibility to ensure that residents  are fully protected from the threat presented by bonfires.

“This bonfire is on council land so ABC Council has a statutory responsibility to protect residents, their homes and property and the environment.

“I’m calling on the council to take immediate action to deal with this threat.”
