Logue delighted to see Rainbow Flag flying at Council Civic Centres
Sinn Féin Councillor and Deputy Mayor Anne Marie Logue was delighted to see the Rainbow Flag flying at Antrim and Newtownabbey Council civic centres to mark Pride on 3rd August.
Cllr Logue said:
“The ground breaking decision by Antrim and Newtownabbey Council to fly the Rainbow Flag in support of our LGBT+ community represents a major win for equality in the borough.
“I was delighted to support the motion which called for the flying of the flag at our civic centres in Antrim and Mossley in recognition of Pride on 3rd August.
“Celebrating diversity is something all councils should endorse – it should be the norm, not the exception. I am therefore very pleased that Antrim and Newtownabbey has now joined with other councils in raising the Rainbow Flag in a public statement of solidarity with our LGBT+ brothers and sisters.
“I want to acknowledge those councillors who brought the motion to Council and also those progressives in the chamber who voted for it. We still have some way to go towards achieving full equality and parity of esteem, but this is a welcome step in that direction.”
