Crash out Brexit will impact farmers and rural communities - Dolan

5 August, 2019 - by Jemma Dolan

Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan has said there is widespread concern at the impact a crash out Brexit will have on farmers and rural communities.

Speaking ahead of this year’s Fermanagh County Show, Jemma Dolan said:

“Over the next two days, many people who are involved in our farming and agricultural sector will gather at the Fermanagh County Show.

“I have no doubt Brexit will be the main topic as there is already widespread concern among farmers about the uncertainties that lay ahead, with many fearing for their livelihoods.

“Farmers and those in the agri-food industry will feel, more than most, the disastrous impact of the reckless crash out Brexit being pursued by Boris Johnson’s party and the DUP.

“Sinn Féin will continue to stand up for rural communities, Irish interests and the majority of citizens in the north who voted on a cross-community basis to remain within the EU.

“The only way to avoid a crash out no-deal Brexit is through the Withdrawal Agreement and the backstop contained within it.”
