Archibald welcomes progress Glenrandal bridge replacement
Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed progress on the replacement of the Glenrandal bridge in Park.
The East Derry MLA said:
"This morning I and local representatives, met with officials from the Department for Infrastructure in Omagh to discuss the replacement of the Glenrandal bridge in Park, which was damaged beyond repair in the floods of August 2017.
“The replacement work was delayed as this bridge is a Listed structure within an Area of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation.
"Officials assured us that progress has been made in obtaining the necessary permissions and consents to progress with the removal of the damaged structure and works to construct the replacement bridge.
"We were also told the timeframe for work to begin is on schedule for Autumn 2019 and the necessary funding is in place.
"This news will be greatly welcomed by local residents’ whose lives have been disrupted for almost two years."
