Dillon welcomes Loughinisland apology
Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has welcomed the settlement reached between the Loughinisland families and the Police Ombudsman's office.
Linda Dillon said:
"I welcome today's development in the High Court in Belfast where the Loughinisland families reached a settlement in their legal action against the Police Ombudsman's office.
"As part of that settlement the families of those killed in the 1994 massacre will receive an apology from the Police Ombudsman for failing in the first report into the killings.
"I want to commend the Loughinisland families for their determination and dignity in the long campaign.
"They, like all families bereaved by the conflict, are entitled to access to truth about the deaths of their loved ones.
"The British government must end its blocking of legacy mechanisms which have already been agreed in order to assist the Loughinisland families and others."
