Murphy welcomes Old Mill planning approval
Sinn Féin Councillor Ryan Murphy has welcomed planning approval for the conversion of old mill building in Ardoyne.
The North Belfast Cllr said:
“Tonight at Belfast City Councils planning committee, approval was given for the conversion of Brookfield Mill into 77 units of social housing in Ardoyne.
“Given the levels of Housing stress in North Belfast, this development will be very much welcomed in the area.
“We know there isn’t much space for development in areas like Ardoyne and this scheme will renovate what is a derelict building into a state of the art living accommodation.
“It will give that part of Flax Street the facelift it deserves and hopefully means we can now start looking at other regeneration projects for that area.
“With the housing crisis only deepening in this city, we believe that this will offer some hope to those on waiting lists but more still needs to be done.”
