Smith trying to hide from public scrutiny over Brexit - Brady
Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has said British Secretary of State Julian Smith is trying to hide from public scrutiny over the clear intent by the Tories to pursue a disastrous no-deal Brexit.
The Newry and Armagh MP said:
“British Secretary of State Julian Smith announced he was to visit a meat processing plant in my constituency today and he would also be visiting the border.
“There is widespread public anger in this area over the reckless Tory Brexit position and protestors had been due to meet him at the processing plant.
“Then it was reported that the visit had been called off. A short time later it was back on again but it was announced that Julian Smith would not be doing any media before finally announcing the visit was off.
“Julian Smith and the Tories may try to hide from public scrutiny over their clear intent on pursuing a no-deal Brexit but they cannot hide from public opinion.
“This is an area that would be devastated by Brexit and Julian Smith, the Brexiteer Tory millionaires and their DUP cheerleaders need to hear that message loud and clear.”
