Sinn Féin to put forward motion calling on Boris to uphold GFA - Cllr Paul Donnelly
Sinn Féin Cllr Paul Donnelly has called on the British Government and its leader, Boris Johnston who is visiting Dublin West tomorrow morning to uphold the rights of the majority of citizens in the north of Ireland who voted remain and to protect the Good Friday Agreement.
Cllr Donnelly said:
“I will be presenting an emergency motion to our monthly council meeting tomorrow afternoon, Monday 9th September and I will be asking for cross party support in the chamber for the people in the north.
“The motion is detailed below:
“The Island of Ireland faces the biggest challenge in a generation with the treat of a no deal Brexit.
"This council calls on Leo Varadkar at their meeting on Monday to tell Boris Johnson and the British government that they must uphold the rights of the majority citizens in the north of Ireland who voted to remain, that the GFA must be protected, and that there must be no return to a hard border on the Island of Ireland."
