Gerry Adams TD “Irish medium education must be resourced and supported”
Sinn Féin TD Gerry Adams led a delegation on Wednesday 11th September containing representatives of the parents of pupils attending Coláiste Lú to meet with Education Minister Joe McHugh.
Separately Teachta Adams also met with Martin O’Brien, CEO of school patron Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB), and Coláiste Chú Chulainn Principal, Tomás Sharkey and Deputy Principal Richard Melaniphy.
Following the meetings, Deputy Adams said,
“There is a need for everyone with a grá for the Irish language and a duty of care for Irish students and their families to work together to resolve the current difficulties.
“This means resourcing and building the capacity of this sector to further develop Irish medium education in Louth.”
