Áth Cliath Abú – Mary Lou McDonald congratulates Dublin Footballers on five in a row
Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald has congratulated the Dublin Men’s Senior Football Team who have made history today by winning the Sam Maguire Cup for the fifth time in a row.
Teachta McDonald also wished the Dublin Ladies’ team the very best of luck as they seek their third all Ireland title in a row tomorrow.
Speaking this evening Teachta McDonald said;
“Dublin is alive this evening as we celebrate our team’s wonderful and historic achievement of five all Ireland titles in a row. Dublin is the first and only county to successfully complete the Drive for Five.
“Commiserations to the brave Kerry team who forced Dublin into a replay but ultimately it was to be the capital’s day today.
“Surely now this Dublin team has to be seen as the best team to ever play the game and these players will go down in history alongside Heffo’s Heros and all the other great Dublin teams of the past.
“Congratulations to the players, the management team, the background staff and all their wives, partners and families who sacrifice so much for the team.
“Our focus now turns to the Dublin Ladies who also seek to make history tomorrow in their search of a third all Ireland title in a row when they go head to head with Galway. Best of luck to our Women in Blue.
“Áth Cliath Abú.”
