‘Community disgusted by horrific assault’ - Gildernew

18 September, 2019 - by Michelle Gildernew

An abduction and attack on a prominent Fermanagh businessman was a horrific assault which has caused disgust in the wider community, local Sinn Féin MP Michelle Gildernew has said.

The Fermanagh South Tyrone MP was commenting after last night’s incident in which Kevin Lunney, a director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, was attacked while driving from work to his home in Kinawley. He was badly beaten and found 22 miles away in County Cavan suffering from a broken leg and other injuries described as ‘very severe but non-life-threatening’.

Michelle Gildernew said: “I am appalled by last night’s attack on Kevin Lunney. This is not just a horrific assault on Kevin and his family, but on jobs and stability in Fermanagh. It has caused widespread disgust within the wider community.

“I have been in contact with Kevin’s family and Quinn Industrial Holdings to offer my support and I would appeal for anyone with information about this vicious attack to pass it on to the authorities.”
